For the unversed, India holds an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Australia, after registering comfortable wins in Mohali and Indore, without some of their main players in the squad. The third ODI will see the captain Rohit Sharma make his return to take over the reins of Team India from KL Rahul, along with the vice-captain Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav also coming back after resting for the first two matches.

The PTI journalist Kushan Sarkar shared the latest update about Team India for their upcoming third ODI against Australia on his Twitter account. He was quoted as saying, “Some #IndianCricketTeam news 1. Bumrah is back for 3rd ODI. 2. Axar will take some more time to heal but he is by no means ruled out of WC. 3. Ruturaj and Mukesh have been released for Asiad. 4. Washington is expected to be released after 3rd game. 5. Ishan-Rohit combo for 3rd game.”

Jasprit Bumrah, who didn’t travel to Indore to play the second ODI against Australia, is expected to be back for the third match in Rajkot. The 29-year-old had taken part in the first ODI of the series in Mohali, picking up the important wicket of Josh Inglis, and registering figures of 1-43 in 10 overs with two maidens.

Furthermore, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar, who were part of the Indian squad in the Australia ODIs, were released from the team to take part in the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou. Washington Sundar, who is also part of Team India in the Asiad, is expected to be released for the event after the completion of the third ODI on September 27.
