But ahead of this clash between the table toppers, New Zealand’s stand-in skipper Tom Latham confirmed that Tim Southee is fit and is available for selection. In the pre-match press conference, Latham said, “He’s available for selection.” It is to be noted that Southee had suffered a thumb injury during the ODI series against England ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India and was sidelined for the first four matches in the showpiece event.
