After falling short of the target in the first ODI by 9 runs, Shikhar Dhawan-led India made a befitting comeback as they beat South Africa by seven wickets in the second ODI. Shreyas Iyer led the charge in the chase for the Men in Blue as the batter scored an unbeaten 113. He was well-aided by Ishan Kishan who scored a brisk 93. Meanwhile, South Africa made a few errors that cost them the game. After scoring at a mediocre rate in the last overs, South Africa’s bowlers could not take wickets at regular intervals and hence they lost. Nevertheless, there is still one game left and both teams will have a chance to win the series.
Pitch Report
The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is a bit sticky but it gets better under lights. Nevertheless, the shorter boundaries always help the batters and the same is expected for the game on Tuesday (11 October).
Team Analysis
India
India have done a great job even without their regulars. While it was Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer who stepped up after early wickets in the first ODI, Ishan Kishan and Iyer did the job in the second game. Iyer, being the senior pro scored a well-calculated century while Kishan took on the South African bowlers and scored a brisk 93. Samson also chipped in with a handy 30*. However, two consecutive failures for the top order remain a concern for the Men in Blue. Captain Dhawan has not clicked yet while Shubman Gill failed to convert a start in the second ODI. Now, with the final game and series up for grabs, India will hope to finish things on high and tick all the boxes.

South Africa
South Africa looked tired when they took the field in the second ODI. After choosing to bat, the Proteas lost two early wickets, giving India an edge. Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram did stitch a good partnership and scored half-centuries but losing wickets in a cluster did not allow South Africa to go the distance they would have liked. However, they had enough runs to stop India, but the lack of potency and intensity meant that India chased the total with ease. Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje leaked runs and did not take wickets either. Now, as the series stand levelled at 1-1, South Africa will have a chance to get things right and finish the tour on a high.
