India A have reached the final of the Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2023 after their semi-final washout against Sri Lanka A on June 20, Tuesday, at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. The first semi-final between India A and Sri Lanka A women, was due to take place on June 19, but rains played spoilsport, which led to officials postponing the fixture to reserve day. But, earlier today, rains returned, which gave the officials no option but to call off the match.
This led to India A advancing to the final of the Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup, on the back of topping Group A, consisting of Pakistan A, Nepal, and Hong Kong.
In their only completed match during this tournament, India A had defeated the hosts by 9 wickets with 88 balls to spare on June 13. They had bowled out Hong Kong for a paltry score of 34 in 14 overs. Shreyanka Patil registered incredible bowling figures of (3-1-2-5), while Mannat Kashyap and Parshavi Chopra took a couple of wickets each in the bowling innings. Titas Sandhu got one scalp in her spell too.
Meanwhile, in the run chase, India A lost the wicket of their captain Shweta Sehrawat early in the innings. Then, U Chetry and Gongadi Trisha got together to overhaul the 34 run target within the powerplay, to hand their team a comfortable win.
In the final of the Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2023, India A will take on Bangladesh A, who had defeated Pakistan A by 6 runs in the second semi-final, this afternoon, at the Mission Road Ground.
