Team India is set to take on Pakistan in the ICC 50-over World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium as cricketing boards of both countries agree on the venue for their fixture in the tournament. In the lead-up to the World Cup, there have been multiple clashes between India and Pakistan on the backdrop of political conflict between the two countries.

Reports further add that the Pakistan team will play the majority of its matches in Chennai and Hyderabad. Further Team India is slated to play Australia and England at Chennai and Lucknow as reported by Dainik Jagran. The report further claims that the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow is set to host five World Cup matches despite getting heavily criticised for the quality of pitches over the IPL.

These reports surface after the discussions and negotiations between the BCCI and PCB reached a resolution regarding Team India’s concern to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan. After multiple discussions, the BCCI agreed to accept the PCB's proposed hybrid model for the Asia Cup.

As per the hybrid model proposed by the PCB, the initial four matches of the group stage are set to take place in Lahore, Pakistan. The next phase of the tournament which includes India’s matches and the finals, will take place in Sri Lanka. Before this agreement, PCB had threatened to boycott the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup in India if the hybrid model was not accepted.

To resolve these concerns, officials from the International Cricket Council, including Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice held meetings with PCB officials in Lahore to confirm the Pakistan team would travel to India for the 2023 World Cup.
