The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The tournament is scheduled to be hosted from August 30 to September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, the Indian team will open their campaign on September 2 against the arch-rivals Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. 

The ACC cricket event that will have six teams from the continent will play a huge role in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, slated to be hosted in the months of October and November in India. Speaking of the squad, top India stars like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul made their return into the squad.

While Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion in the squad was certain after he was made the captain of the Indian squad against Ireland, KL Rahul’s inclusion remained doubtful till the last. Additionally, Kuldeep Yadav was the lone spinner in the side with Yuzvendra Chahal also missing a place.
