On Wednesday, April 2, the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans registered a comfortable eight-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match 14 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Coming into the match after going past the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, GT continued their winning streak as they defeat RCB at their home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
For the unversed, Gill-led GT had won the toss and elected to bowl first. On the back of a three-wicket haul from Mohammed Siraj, the GT bowlers restricted the hosts to 169/8 in 20 overs. In the 170-run pursuit, the GT batters looked in no hurry as Sai Sudharsan once again starred, playing a gritty 36-ball 49-run knock.
However, after his dismissal, England batter Jos Buttler, along with crucial hits from Sherfane Rutherford helped GT finish over the line. The former England white-ball skipper, who walked out when the GT scorecard read 32/1 after Shubman Gill’s departure, hit the RCB bowlers all over the park.

During his 39-ball stay in the middle, he played a quickfire 73*, with his innings being laced with five boundaries and six maximums. Speaking after finishing the game for GT, Buttler said, “ Enjoyed batting, the bowlers were fantastic, the fielding could have been better, myself better, we might have been chasing 30 runs less.”
“I was embarrassed (on his dropped catch), Salty is a dangerous batter, I tried to celebrate in a Herschelle Gibbs style, tried to celebrate way too early. There was a bit of movement early on with the new ball, so credit to our openers for having played out the initial period. The fielding could have been better, but we have our bases covered, some fine bowlers, quality batters and some dangerous hitters in our squad,” he further remarked.
