India has reportedly made an official bid to host the 2036 edition of the Olympics and Paralympics Games. According to reports, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) submitted a Letter of Intent to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Future Host Commission in the previous month. Notably, in the recently concluded season of the tournament hosted in Paris, India returned with six medals which included five bronze and one silver.
Earlier, during his visit to New York, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is trying its best to get the bid to host the 2036 edition of the tournament. While addressing the crowd at the Indian diaspora at Nassau Coliseum in New York, PM Modi said, “...Only a few days ago, the Paris Olympics concluded. Very soon, you will witness the Olympics in India too. We are putting in all possible efforts to host the 2036 Olympics.”

Notably, Los Angeles in the USA will host the 2028 edition of the Olympics, while Brisbane, Australia is set to host the 2032 edition of the tournament. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said that several cities have expressed their interest in hosting the 2036 edition of the tournament. Recently, a source told India Today, "This monumental opportunity could bring substantial benefits, fostering economic growth, social progress, and youth empowerment across the country.”
Earlier while hosting Indian athletes who participated in the Paris Olympics, PM Modi said, "India is preparing to host the 2036 Olympics. In this regard, the input from athletes who have played in previous Olympics is very important. You all must have observed and experienced many things. We want to document this and share it with the government so that we don't miss out on any small details in the preparation for 2036.”
