Netizens on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to India’s loss against South Africa in the first of a two-Test match series on December 28, Thursday. In the last leg of the multi-format tour, India locked horns with South Africa in a Test match that kicked off on December 26. India settled for a 1-1 draw in the T20I format, followed by a 3-2 win over the hosts in the ODI series. India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, surrendered to the Proteas’ bowling attack and lost the match by an inning and 32 runs.
Veteran Proteas batter Dean Elgar starred for the Rainbow Nation with his magnificent 185 in 287 balls with 28 boundaries. After winning the toss, South Africa invited the Men in Blue to bat and dominated from the word go. In the first innings, India posted a total of 245, which the Proteas successfully chased while gaining lead by more than 150 runs.
In the second innings, India surrendered to the lethal Proteas’ bowling attack and got bundled out at 131 within 35 overs to lose the match by an innings and 32 runs. The defeat didn’t go well with the fans and they took to X to slam Rohit Sharma-led side.
In the second Test, both sides will lock horns at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town from January 3, 2024.
