The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for refusing to send Team India to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the ICC event hurt PCB as they couldn’t host the high-octane clash. India matches were shifted to Dubai and teams were bound to travel to the middle-eastern country for the clashes. Following the Champions Trophy 2025, there were also claims that PCB incurred massive losses for hosting the marquee ICC event. However, the board denied such claims and asserted it earned approximately USD 10 million.

In the recent development, PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza censured Indian media for spreading negativity against Pakistan. Mir also warned the BCCI that it will incur bigger financial losses in the future. “All the decision-making is done by ICC. If India has tried to harm Pakistan, then I can tell you also pay the price. You know India vs Pakistan sell like hot cakes. You know for the next three years Pakistan will not travel to India. So if Pakistan will incur any financial loss, India will suffer more financial loss with Pakistan not travelling to India," said Aamir Mir in a press conference.

Pakistan won't travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026

In December 2024, BCCI and PCB agreed to the arrangement that Pakistan won’t be travelling to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. The match between both sub-continent teams will be played in Sri Lanka, who will be co-hosting the event. The transfer of India-Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 game to Dubai from Lahore didn’t get compensation to PCB. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup. A total of 55 games will be played in February-March 2026. It will be the third instance that India and Sri Lanka will host ICC events together. Previously both nations organised the 1996 and 2011 installments of the World Cup.
