Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgium and Manchester City midfielder, has held talks with the Major League Soccer (MLS) side San Diego over a free transfer move in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 33-year-old is currently playing for Manchester City in the Premier League, but he will be out of contract with them in the summer, and as of this writing, there are no reports about him agreeing new terms with the eight-time English champions.
Notably, as per the report published in The Sun newspaper, there is interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) in regards to acquiring the services of Kevin De Bruyne, but they aren’t his first preference. The Belgian footballer has a liking to the MLS and life in the USA, which is why the fans shouldn’t be surprised if he completes a move with San Diego this summer.
I’ve had conversations with him, but I’ll tell you what, those wages won’t fit our budget: San Diego Club Director
The talks between Kevin De Bruyne and San Diego officials has been held already, but Club Director Tyler Heaps stated that the move isn’t imminent. He was quoted as saying, “Those rumours, I don’t know where they come from. I talked to the agent. The agent has many players, obviously. Every time I see it, I say, ‘Are you the one that is saying all this stuff?' He’s a fantastic footballer and he loves this area. He goes on holidays here every single year, but I’m not sure where that rumour keeps coming from.”
Following that, the San Diego Club Director also stated that, “I’ve had conversations with him, but I’ll tell you what, those wages won’t fit our budget at the moment in terms of what his expectations are.” It is not certain whether Kevin De Bruyne and San Diego will agree to a deal over the next few months, but regardless, the midfield sensation is going to stay a hot commodity for various clubs from all over the world until he finds a club to play for in the upcoming new season of football.
