The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Tuesday suspended the Indian hammer thrower Rachna Kumari after she failed numerous doping tests. This could potentially end the career of a 30-year-old athlete. Her sample was taken last year in a competition held in Patiala on September 24, 2023, followed by October 1 wherein she tested positive for the use of prohibited substances by the AIU.
Her suspension term started on November 24, 2023. As a result of the suspension, Rachna Kumari’s achievements have been disqualified starting from September 24 last year which includes all her medals, awards, titles, and every accolade she received.
In the tweet posted by the AIU federation, it states that, “The AIU has banned Kumari (K.M) Rachna (India) for 12 years from 24 November 2023 for the Presence/Use of a prohibited substance (Stanozolol, Metandienone, DHCMT, Clenbuterol.)
Kumari p reviously served four-year ban
Rachna Kumari has also served a four-year suspension previously owing to failing the doping test from 2015 to 2019. This was her second anti-doping rule violation. Earlier, from the collected sample on 10th February 2015, it was found that she consumed a prohibited substance named methenolone for which she was handed a four-year suspension from 18th March 2015 to 17th March 2019.
