The entire Indian sporting fraternity came together to mourn the death of Indian industrialist and business tycoon Ratan Tata. Notably, the visionary businessman and philanthropist, Ratan Tata, generally regarded as India’s favourite industrialist, passed away during the late hours of October 9 in Mumbai. The official account of the Tata Group on X released an official statement, while the Chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran, confirmed the news of his demise at 11:56 pm.
One of the truest icons and jewels of modern India, Tata left a true legacy behind and earned respect from people of all walks of life. The news of Tata’s demise sent a shockwave throughout the nation and netizens paid their tributes. The people from the Indian sports fraternity also came together and expressed their condolences in abundance at his passing.
Rohit Sharma, Neeraj Chopra, Sachin Tendulkar and others express condolences
Indian cricket team’s ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma took to X and paid a heartfelt tribute to Ratan Tata. He wrote, “A man with a heart of gold. Sir, you will forever be remembered as someone who truly cared and lived his life to make everyone else’s better.”
Apart from him, two-time Olympics medallist Neeraj Chopra on X wrote, “I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of Shri Ratan Tata ji. He was a visionary, and I’ll never forget the conversation I had with him. He inspired this entire nation. I pray that his loved ones find strength. Om Shanti.”
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar shared a picture with Ratan Tata and penned a heartfelt note. He tweeted, “In his life, and demise, Mr Ratan Tata has moved the nation. I was fortunate to spend time with him, but millions, who have never met him, feel the same grief that I feel today. Such is his impact. From his love for animals to philanthropy, he showed that true progress can only be achieved when we care for those who don’t have the means to take care of themselves.”
He added, “Rest in peace, Mr Tata. Your legacy will continue to live through the institutions you built and values that you embraced.”
