India veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh announced he will retire from international hockey after the upcoming Paris Olympics, starting on July 28. Sreejesh will participate in his fourth Olympic Games in Paris and look to add another medal to his bronze from the 2020 edition in Tokyo.
The 36-year-old debuted for India in 2006 and took to social media to announce his retirement. Sreejesh shared a thread on X which was about his journey from playing for the G V Raja Sports School to making his international debut against Australia and then the crowning moment of his career, the bronze medal in Tokyo.

S reejesh's post said, “As I stand on the threshold of my final chapter in international hockey, my heart swells with gratitude and reflection. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I am forever grateful for the love and support from my family, teammates, coaches, and fans.”
“I still remember my father selling our cow to buy my first kit. His sacrifice ignited a fire within me, pushing me to strive harder, dream bigger,” he added. “The crowning glory, our Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo 2020, was a dream realized. The tears, the joy, the pride – it was all worth it,” Sreejesh spoke about the bronze medal from the previous Olympics.
