On June 11, Sunday, following their loss in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 to Australia at The Oval in London, Team India are in the midst of a short break from their international commitments before they embark on a full cricket tour of the Caribbean next month. Starting from July 12, the Men in Blue will play against the Men in Maroon in two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The T20I series between India and West Indies will begin on August 4 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad with the first encounter. Then, the action will move down south to Providence Stadium in Guyana with two matches on August 6 and 8. The final two games of the series will be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, USA on August 12 and 13. Hardik Pandya, in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, has led the Indian T20I team reasonably well in the last few months. With the senior players expected to get more rest from playing the shortest format of the game, the 29-year-old will be looking to continue the good work at the helm with young players in tow. He has scored 1675 runs in 46 international matches, at an average of 46.52 and strike-rate of 175.76, with three T20I hundreds. #PAGE_BREAK# Jitesh Sharma/Ishan Kishan (wk) Jitesh Sharma, who delivered sparkling performances as a wicket-keeper batter for Punjab Kings in the IPL, will be looking to make his international debut for India in the T20I format in the Caribbean. But he has stiff competition from Ishan Kishan, the Jharkhand-based cricketer, who has been a regular feature in Team India in T20Is, thanks to his swashbuckling batting at the top of the order. #PAGE_BREAK# Rinku Singh Rinku Singh, who has proven to be a knight in the shining armour for KKR, time and again during IPL 2023, is on the cusp of making his debut for Team India. He had an incredible season for Kolkata Knight Riders in the middle order, scoring 474 runs at an average of 59.25 and strike-rate of 149.53, including four fifty-plus scores. #PAGE_BREAK# Axar Patel As one of the most reliable cricketers, irrespective of the format, Axar Patel will be looking to make a mark in the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, after getting left out from the Indian playing XI of the WTC Final 2023. The 29-year-old bowler will be travelling to the West Indies to give his career in the shortest format a new lease of life, while taking his current stats of 11 wickets in 8 matches at 9.19 economy, to the next level. #PAGE_BREAK# Jasprit Bumrah One of the best bowlers for Team India in the last decade, Jasprit Bumrah, has been on the sidelines from competitive cricket since September of last year, due to back injury. It is expected that he might make his return to the national colours against the West Indies in the upcoming T20I series in the Caribbean.
