Tennis player Simona Halep has withdrawn from Tokyo Olympics as she continues to battle a calf injury. The Romanian earlier had pulled out of Wimbledon to aid the injury but confirmed on Tuesday that her recovery will take time. Notably, Halep had also missed the French Open because of the problem.

Simona on Tuesday took to Twitter to share the news with her fans and expressed her disappointment of missing out on representing her country. However, the tennis star said that she will be watching the games from home and will cheer for Romanian Athletes.
“After the disappointment of missing the French Open and Wimbledon, having to skip the Olympics is incredibly tough to digest, but I am determined to come back stronger.
“I will be watching and cheering on the Romanian athletes from home”, tweeted Halep.
