Preview

In match 39 of the Indian Premier League 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders will compete against Gujarat Titans at their home ground of Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KKR will arrive at this contest on the back of a big win against RCB in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, GT will play this encounter after defeating Mumbai Indians by a very big margin at home in Ahmedabad. Both teams have had contrasting IPL seasons this year, so this fixture has the potential to become a one-sided affair in favour of Gujarat Titans against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Analysis

Kolkata Knight Riders have been bolstered immensely by the runs scored by Jason Roy at the top of the order since he started playing in this season’s IPL three matches ago. The middle order of KKR has been delivering decent performances with their captain Nitish Rana leading the way alongside Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh. The bowling for Kolkata needs a course correction amongst the pacers, while the likes of Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma have been doing reasonably well for the team.

Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill has been leading the side with consistent scores at the top of the order. The captain Hardik Pandya, David  Miller, Abhinav Manohar, and Rahul Tewatia have been pillars of strength in the middle order for Gujarat. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami has been leading the pace attack brilliantly for GT in the powerplay, while Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad from Afghanistan, are picking up wickets for the team in the middle overs.
