Less than a week and all eyes will be at the Indian subcontinent. With the 16 th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) just six days away from the start, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in line to organise the opening ceremony, which was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first time post the COVID-19 era and the board is leaving no stone unturned.
The Indian board is eyeing to add some Bollywood quotient and if reports are to believed, celebrities Rashmika Mandanna and Tamanna Bhatia are likely to grace the stage at the opening ceremony.
“Yes, there will be an opening ceremony on the 31 st . It will be a short one but as the home and away format returns, we felt it was necessary to welcome back the home crowd with a ceremony,” a BCCI official was quoted by InsideSport.
It is to be noted that BCCI has put up a great show ahead of the start of the inaugural Women’s Premier League. The board organised a star-studded opening ceremony for the inaugural edition which had Bollywood celebrities Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani take the centre stage along with singer AP Dhillon .
Talking about the much-awaited IPL 2023, the defending champions Gujarat Titans will lock horns with MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
