The match 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw the Lucknow Super Giants host the Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Earlier in the match, it was KL Rahul who won the toss and elected to bat first, courtesy a crucial 73-run stand between Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan for the eighth wicket, which eventually helped them post 167 runs on the board.
Delhi’s Kuldeep Yadav, who returned to action after an injury layoff, picked up three wickets, combined with Khaleel Ahmed’s two wickets as well as Ishant and Mukesh’s single scalps, each. While Delhi’s bowling unit gave them a promising start, Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan’s 73-run stand changed the game’s course and helped the hosts regain their lost control.
In the second innings, Delhi lost their star opener David Warner at just eight runs, but Prithvi Shaw held the team’s hopes high. But later in the night, it was a crucial knock from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Rishabh Pant, that helped DC post majority of the runs. While the young batter scored 35-ball 55, Rishabh Pant scored 41 runs before falling in a bizarre way. Moreover, it was Tristan Stubbs, who hit the winning runs for DC to hand them their second win of the season.
With this six-wicket win, the Capitals now sit at the ninth spot in the IPL 2024 points table, while the Lucknow Super Giants dropped to fourth place, ending their three-match winning streak.
