Virat Kohli's sensational inning of 92 in 47 balls against the Punjab Kings on Thursday helped the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) register their fourth consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. With this win, RCB registered their fifth victory of the season and saw a 3% rise in their IPL 2024 playoff qualification chances while PBKS' 1% chance has been demolished.
In the IPL 2024 points table, RCB are placed seventh with five wins in 12 matches and a better net run rate than the likes of DC and LSG, who are placed fifth and sixth respectively. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals
The KKR and RR are in the top two positions respectively with eight wins in 11 matches in the IPL 2024. Other teams this season have lost at least two more matches than KKR and RR. Kolkata and Rajasthan have 99% chances of making the IPL 2024 playoff.
SunRisers Hyderabad
Pat Cummins-led SunRisers Hyderabad are riding high on the shoulders of their openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The SRH has already become the team with the most sixes in one season in IPL history as they have struck 146 sixes in 12 matches (CSK 145 in 2018). Hyderabad have a 97% chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Chennai Super Kings
The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings is led by Ruturaj Gaikwad after MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy this season. After losing five of their 11 games so far this season, CSK are placed fourth with 12 points. Apart from the above three teams, the Super Kings are the only side with above 50% chance to qualify for the playoffs as they have a 65% chance.
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants
Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals and KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants are tied with 12 points in 12 matches, however, the Capitals maintain a better net run rate than LSG. With Delhi having a 15% chance, LSG have a 14% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
After Virat Kohli's sensational knock against the Punjab Kings on Thursday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have increased their chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff. Before the match against the PBKS, Bengaluru have a 7% chance to qualify, however, that increased to 10% following their win against the PBKS.
Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans
After the loss against RCB on Thursday, the Punjab Kings joined the joint-record five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, as the two teams with the most losses so far this season. Both MI and PBKS have lost eight of their 12 matches while Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans have similar points with four wins in 11 matches. Despite winning four matches each, GT are placed at the bottom while MI and PBKS are at the eighth and the ninth spot. The qualification chance for these teams are 0%.
