The inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals will play the first four of their 14 matches at home in Jaipur in the 2024 season. The Royals are slated to not play any games in Guwahati, RR's second home for the last few years. The Sanju Samson-led side had a disappointing 2023 season after a great start to finish in fifth place with seven and seven losses at a net run rate of +1.048.
The mostly set side had a quiet IPL 2024 auction as the RR management bought the West Indian star, Rovman Powell for INR 7.4 crore and then sorted out their backups while bringing in two young talents in Abid Mushtaq and Shubham Dubey. The Royals also completed a massive trade in which Avesh Khan came into the squad for top-order batter Devdutt Paddikal, who joined the Lucknow Super Giants.
No Guwahati games for Rajasthan Royals
Talking about the upcoming season, the IPL schedule for the first 21 matches over 17 days was officially announced. In this first phase of the tournament, the Rajasthan Royals will be playing all of their matches at home in Jaipur as some parts of Assam receive rainfall in May, which is categorized as pre-monsoon showers. These rains are also called "April rains" or "mango showers".
