In Match 31 of the IPL 2024 , the Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are taking on table-topper Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Earlier in the match, it was Sanju Samson, who won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first.
On being invited to put the score first on the board, KKR posted 223/6 in their stipulated 20 overs. While all-rounder Sunil Narine played the anchor’s role with his 56-ball 109, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30 off 18 balls) and Rinku Singh (20*) also played a crucial knock. The KKR continued to dominate at their home turf as they took to defend the total.
While Vaibhav Arora cut short Yashasvi Jaiswal’s inning, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel also departed in quick succession. With KKR players coming out good, the side missed the services of Rinku Singh on the field. During one of the halfway mark of the RR inning, KKR’s fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate revealed that Singh has a “bit of side injury”. He further added that due to a side strain he is playing as an Impact Sub against RR.
Talking about the match, after the completion of 10 overs, RR’s scorecard read 109/4 with Jos Buttler (32) and Ravichandran Ashwin (1) in the middle.
