
Lucknow Super Giants finally got their first win of IPL 2025 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in match number 7 of the season at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Batting first, SRH posted 190 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh scored respective fifties as LSG chased the winning target in 16.1 overs.
Batting first, SRH didn’t got a great start as they lost two wickets for 15 runs in 2.2 overs as Shardul Thakur struck first for LSG dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan in consecutive deliveries. After that, Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy added 61 runs for the third wicket. Head got out after scoring 47 runs off 28 balls hitting five fours and three sixes while Reddy scored 32(28) runs with two boundaries. Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma also contributed with 26 and 36 respectively while skipper Pat Cummins also smashed three sixes as SRH reached the 190-run mark. For LSG, Shardul Thakur registered figures of 4/34, while Ravi Bishnoi, Digvesh Singh, Avesh Khan and Prince Yadav scalped a wicket each.
Nicholas Pooran smashed fiery 70 as LSG register easy win
Chasing the winning target, Nicholas Pooran took charge with his fiery knock as LSG made the target of 191 runs look like a cake walk. He also got the support from opening batter Mitchell Marsh as the duo added 116 runs for the second wicket. Pooran got out after smashing 70(26) runs hitting six fours and six sixes, while Marsh scored 52(31) with seven fours and two sixes.
After that, David Miller (13 off 7) and Abdul Samad (22* off 8) as LSG chased the winning target within 17 overs. For SRH, Pat Cummins took two wickets while Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel and Adam Zampa scalped a wicket each.
