The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League will reportedly be played from March 14 to May 25, 2025. Not only this, but dates of the next three seasons of the cash-rich league have also been revealed. Notably, action for the next season of IPL is officially set to begin on Sunday, November 24 as ten franchises engage in bidding war to pick the best players from the lot of more than 500 players.
As per latest reports by ESPNcricinfo, the 2025 season of the IPL will be played from March 14 to May 25. Moreover, the 2026 season of the tournament will be played between March 15 and May 31, while the 2027 season will begin on March 14 and May 30. In an email to franchises on Thursday, November 21, IPL termed the tournament dates as windows but these are likely to be the final dates.
IPL 2025 season to comprise of 74 matches: Reports
The reports by the sources also state that the 2025 season of the T20 tournament will comprise 74 matches, which would be the same as the last three seasons. However, the number is still low as compared to the 2022 season, when a total of 84 matches were listed by IPL in 2022, when the media rights for the 2023-27 cycle were sold. The IPL had listed 74 matches each for 2023 season and 2024, whereas 84 matches each for 2025 and 2026 and a maximum of 94 games for 2027.
The report further suggested that the overseas players from most full-member countries have received the nod from their individual cricket boards to play in the next three seasons of the tournament.
