Irfan Pathan, the former Indian cricketer, hosted the players of the Afghanistan cricket team for dinner at his home ahead of their ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Apart from Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Najibullah Zadran, and other players, from Afghanistan, some of the notable attendees included Yusuf Pathan, the elder brother of Irfan Pathan, Suniel Shetty, Adnan Sami, Harbhajan Singh, and Imran Tahir, among others.

Adnan Sami, 52, the Indian singer and musician, sent out a post on his official X account to talk about the “beautiful evening” he spent at Irfan Pathan’s home while calling the Afghanistan cricket team “gallant,” for their exemplary performances in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in India. He shared a few pictures of the get-together, wherein they enjoyed “stories, love, laughter, Kebabs, ‘Shola’ & Qabuli Pulao in abundance.”
Notably, the Afghanistan cricket team has taken the cricketing world by storm in the last month or so, defeating the likes of former world champions England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023. Their batting lineup, including players like Rahmanullah Zadran, Rahmat Shah, and the captain Hashmatullah Shah, have showcased tremendous patience, coupled with quality hitting, to put above-par totals and chase down targets with ease during the ongoing flagship tournament.
The bowling attack of Afghanistan is one of the most balanced in the ODI World Cup, with the responsibility of the spin department lying on Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, while their fast bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq have contributed well to their success too. In the upcoming match in the CWC 2023 against Australia, a win for Afghanistan would put them on the brink of a semi-final spot, which will be one of the greatest achievements in cricket to say the very least.
