Haryana’s fast bowler Anshul Kamboj scripted history in Ranji Trophy when he became the first bowler in 39 years to pick all 10 wickets in an innings. With this, he became the only third cricketer in the tournament to achieve the rare feat. Kamboj achieved the feat on Thursday on the third day of the fifth round matches of the ongoing season. The match had Haryana clashing against Kerala at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli.

The 23-year-old tore into Kerala’s batting lineup and delivered a sensational spell and recorded figures of 30.1-9-49-10, restricting the opponents to 291 in their first innings. Kamboj surpassed Joginder Sharma’s previous best of 8 for 24 in 2024-25 to register the best figures by a Haryana bowler in the tournament. Apart from Kamboj, the other two bowlers to have achieved the feat are Bengal's Premangsu Chatterjee in 1956-57, and Rajasthan's Pradeep Sunderam in 1985-86.

In red-ball cricket, line and length is same for every wicket: Kamboj while explaining his process

The young bowler explained his process and said, “In red-ball cricket, line and length is same for every wicket. The red ball moves off the wicket and in the air also. There is not much difference in both the types of wickets [spin and seamer-friendly]. In red-ball cricket, everyone tries to bowl a length ball on the fourth stump, to get an edge or LBW.”

He added, “After bowling two-three overs, we will understand which line and length will be more helpful to get wickets. I try to adapt as soon as possible to the situation and the kind of wicket.” With the feat, Kamboj became the sixth Indian bowler to take all wickets in a FC innings, joining the likes of Subhash Gupte (1954), Premansu Chatterjee (1956), Pradeep Sunderam (1985), Anil Kumble (1999) and Debasis Mohanty (2001).
