Irfan Pathan, the former Indian cricketer, has taken a sly dig at Pakistan trolls, who are spamming his Twitter timeline, after India lost the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 to Australia by 209 runs on June 11, Sunday. It was during the morning session of day 5 at The Oval in London, when Team India were bundled out for 234 in their pursuit of a daunting chase of 444 runs.
The 38-year-old player, who retired from all forms of international cricket in 2020, has a massive fan following on social media for his brilliant takes and accurate analysis as a cricket commentator. But with all that positive feedback, he has also been exposed to the bad side of the networking sites, filled with critics, abusers, and downright bad people having no regard for anyone and everyone.
In the same vein, when India lost the WTC Final, the trolls from Pakistan targeted Irfan Pathan, who didn't agree with him pointing out the good things about his country in connection with cricket over a long period. He sent out a tweet, which read, “Suddenly all the padosi’s are entering my time line with happiness cos team India lost the WTC FINAL. I was so right abt them… #grace”
Notably, for his wonderful performance with the bat, especially in the first innings, Travis Head of Australia was adjudicated as the player of the match. He had scored a fantastic 163 off 174 deliveries with 25 fours and one six. For India, the most noticeable performer in the WTC Final was Ajinkya Rahane, who got 89 runs off 129 deliveries with 11 fours and one maximum, on his return to the national team.
With their World Test Championship triumph earlier today, Australia have joined New Zealand as the second team to win the newest ICC tournament in the Test format.
