The final of the WPL 2025 is currently being played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI). After winning the toss, the Capitals opted to field first. MI's innings was anchored by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who played a scintillating knock of 66 runs in 44 balls, showcasing her leadership in the crucial match. Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed a valuable 30 runs, providing stability to the innings.
The Delhi Capitals bowling unit had a wonderful outing with Marizanne Kapp bowling a super-effective spell of 2-11 (4) with zeros extras and just one boundary. Left-arm spinners Shree Charani and Jess Jonassen also made significant contributions, each taking two wickets and applying pressure throughout MI's innings.
However, DC’s run-chase has not gone as planned because the capitals had lost four early wickets in the first eight overs itself. Skipper Meg Lanning was cleaned up by Natalie Sciver-Brunt, while hitter Shafali Verma was also dismissed by Shabnim Ismali in the third over. Till the time Jemimah Rodrigues was on the crease, there was hope amongst the DC supporters. But after losing her wicket in the 11th over, it looked like game set and match for Mumbai Indians.
