Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni is known for his cool and composure on the field irrespective of the match situation. However, there also have been a few instances where Dhoni couldn’t keep calm for long and showed aggression on the field. One of these incidents took place during IPL 2019 when CSK were playing against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. During his recent interview, Dhoni recalled an infamous incident from that game where he stepped on the field to argue with the umpires and realised that it was big mistake done by him.

Notably, during the IPL 2019 fixture, RR bowler Ben Stokes bowled a no ball while CSK were nearing the target in the last over. After initially giving a signal for the no ball, the on field umpire changed his decision, after which, Dhoni stepped into the field to confront umpires and got involved in a heated argument with them. However, Dhoni also had to face consequences for this as he was charged 50% of his match fees.

During an event by Mastercard, host Mandira Bedi asked Dhoni “if he ever lost his cool?" to which, Dhoni replied with “Lots of time. It has happened; one of the IPL games, it happened. I just walked on the field. So that was a big mistake.”

The stakes are high, you are supposed to win every game: MS Dhoni

Speaking further, MS Dhoni said that in a high stake IPL game, there are several instances where the players lose their cool. “But other than that, also, there have been instances where something gets triggered because we play a sport where the stakes are very high; you’re supposed to win every game," Dhoni said.

CSK will begin their IPL 2025 campaign with a match against Mumbai Indians at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23. Dhoni is set to play another season of the cash-rich league while Ruturaj Gaikwad will be seen leading the franchise for the second consecutive season.
