Amidst reports and speculation of the Argentina men's football team agreeing to play a friendly against India in 2025, the La Albiceleste team bus was spotted in the eastern city of Kolkata. The Capital of West Bengal is considered the Mecca of Indian football with the Argentine team being a favourite among the locals.

Legendary footballer Diego Maradona also visited the city of joy twice and interacted with the locals. Recently, the Kerala Sports Ministry announced that the Argentina national team is scheduled to travel to Kerala to participate in two friendly matches in October 2025, creating a buzz around the issue.
Team Argentina in India?
Coming back to the recent incident, the video of the Argentine team bus with pictures of Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria and more in Kolkata was shared by the Argentine Football Association's India page. Then that post was retweeted by one of the official accounts of the Argentinian National Football Team - Selección Argentina in English.
I would greatly appreciate it: Igor Stimac on playing against Argentina
With news about the Kerala Sports Ministry agreeing to host the La Albiceleste, the head coach of the Indian national team, Igor Stimac expressed excitement about playing against reigning World Cup winners. Speaking at the press conference ahead of their AFC Asian Cup 2023 match against Syria, Stimac said, “I would greatly appreciate it if the government of Kerala could consider investing in obtaining the necessary licensing for the football stadium to host FIFA World Cup qualifying games. This would allow us to come together and enjoy supporting our national team during official matches.”
