The weather conditions in Southampton made no play possible on Day 1 of the ICC World Test Championship final. Leave aside the cricketing action, even the toss was not possible on Day 1 due to rains and wet outfield. And just before the scheduled inspection by the umpires when it started to rain again, the umpires had no other option but to call off play for the day. Addressing the press after Day 1, India fielding coach R Sridhar made a hilarious entry.
Referring to the incident where star player Cristiano Ronaldo removed coca-cola bottles in front of him at a presser and encouraged people to drink water instead, Sridhar chipped in a hilarious one-liner. "Should I move the Coke bottle before we start? Will the share prices be affected if I do it,” he cheekily asked.

Moreover, Sridhar further suggested that despite them having announced their Playing XI, they can make changes to it based on the weather conditions which made no play possible on Day 1.
Elsewhere in England, the India Women side is trying to avoid a defeat as they are 1 down for 83, following on, still trailing by 82 runs at Bristol. Debutant opener Shafali Varma, who missed out on a hundred by 4 runs in the first innings, remains unbeaten on 55 in the second innings as a little over one day remains in the match.
