India added another feather in hat and this time wrote its name on the Moon in golden ink on August 23, Wednesday. Making a new claim as a superpower in space, India became the first country to land on the south pole of the Moon with its Chandrayaan 3 mission. Not only this, but with this feat, India became the fourth nation after Russia, the USA and China to land safely on the lunar surface. However, this wasn’t the only record that Chandrayaan-3 achieved that day.
After the successful landing of the Indian lunar mission, ISRO took to Twitter to give official confirmation of the same. The Indian Space Research Organisation wrote, “Chandrayaan-3 Mission: 'India, I reached my destination and you too!': Chandrayaan-3 Chandrayaan-3 has successfully soft-landed on the moon 🌖!.Congratulations, India!”
The tweet went viral in no time and soon got more than 50M views and became the most liked tweet from India. It surpassed Virat Kohli’s tweet that he posted after his explosive inning of 82* runs in the 2022 T20I World Cup against Pakistan. After winning the game, Kohli posted a special message for his fans and wrote, “Special win. Thank you to all our fans for turning up in numbers.” The tweet by the India great gained 796K likes, whereas that by ISRO crossed 800K likes since posted.
In the game at Melbourne Cricket Ground, India came to chase the target of 160 runs. The former India skipper played a brilliant inning of 82* runs off 53 balls to help the Indian side win by four wickets.
