Mohammed Shami, currently sidelined due to an ankle injury, has bashed the ex-Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza for bizarre claims during the ODI World Cup 2023. The 33-year-old called Hasan Raza jealous for discrediting his success by stating that the Indians received “different and suspicious balls” from the umpires, and the DRS was manipulated in their favour.
Notably, the Indian fast bowler was the leading wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023, picking up 24 wickets at an average of 10.70 and an economy of 5.26 with three five-wicket hauls. He was a key player for the Indian cricket team in reaching the final of the CWC in front of the home fans, which they lost to Australia by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While speaking to News18, Mohammed Shami remarked that Hasan Raza and others like him have made a joke out of cricket because of not enjoying the success of one another. This is also the reason why when they lose, they feel like they have been cheated.
They have made cricket a joke: Mohammed Shami
He said, “Actually, they have made cricket a joke because we don’t enjoy each other’s success. You become too happy when you are being praised, but when you lose, you feel that you have been cheated. You look at the records of the time we have been part of the team you won’t even find them close.”
“Jalan toh puri dikhti hai wo. Itna jalane se kon se results mil jaane hain (Jealousy is evident. You can never get good results with this amount of jealousy,” Mohammed Shami added.
