Although Indian fans have little reason to cheer for the final of T20 World Cup 2022 at Melbourne Cricket Ground after Team India crashed out of the semi-final, an Indian-origin singer is set to add Indian flavor in the marquee clash.

According to an Indian Express report, 13-year-old Janaki Easwar will perform along with the Australian rock band Icehouse ahead of the England vs Pakistan clash at MCG, in front of 90,000 spectators.

As per reports, Janaki’s parents Anoop Divakaran and Divya Raveendran hail from Kozhikode in Kerala and have been in living in Australia for the last 15 years. Janaki rose to fame after she became the youngest-ever contestant in The Voice Australia.

While speaking to Indian Express, Janaki said that she is looking forward to perform in front of a packed MCG. “Performing in front of a massive MCG crowd and getting broadcast to millions of people globally will be an unbelievable experience. My parents have been die-heart cricket fans. It is through them I have learned about the magnitude of this opportunity. I have heard from many sources that tickets are already sold out.  It would have been nicer if India played the final, though,” said Janaki.

Ever since making her debut, she has been performing at various events like the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, and Indian Fashion Week Australia. Commenting on her traditional attire becoming her trademark style, Janaki told Indian Express that her attire will represent the varied culture in Australia, and it gives her an edge over other artists.

Notably, she will perform on ‘We Can Get Together’ with Zimbabwean-born Australian Thndo Sikwila and Icehouse’s lead singer Iva Davies at the MCG.

Speaking of the final clash, England and Pakistan are set to face each other after producing dominating performances in their respective semifinal fixtures. While Pakistan stunned New Zealand in the first semifinal, England thrashed India in the second knock-out game on November 10 at Adelaide Oval. Both teams will look to clinch their second title becoming only the second team to do so after West Indies.
