Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team in Tests, has reportedly refused to join the side for their upcoming two-match series against hosts South Africa later this month. The details have emerged that Jason Gillespie is upset with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in regards to few of their decisions made by them in recent times, and due to which, he has sent his resignation from the job to the PCB.
As per the report from Cricbuzz, Jason Gillespie was expected to travel to South Africa with the Pakistan cricket team via the Dubai route on Thursday, December 12, but there is no sign of him there alongside the members of the squad. The recent decision from the PCB to not re-appoint assistant coach Tim Nielsen, who was signed earlier this year, to work with the red ball team of Pakistan.

Notably, Jason Gillespie was signed by the PCB earlier this year for a two-year term to coach the Pakistan Test team, which saw him losing the two-match series to Bangladesh 0-2 before securing a comeback win over England 2-1, in a three-match series. In the absence of the former Australian cricketer, his counterpart from Pakistan, Aqib Javed, is expected to take interim charge of the red ball setup of the national team.
Aqib Javed is currently fulfilling the role of interim head coach of Pakistan during their ongoing T20I and ODI series in South Africa after Gary Kirsten decided to give up the job in October after being a part of the team for just six months. The former Pakistan pacer will be staying in the interim role of the limited overs setup of the national team until the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
