While Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah is spending time at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to achieve his long-awaited fitness, the Chairman of the All-India Senior Selection Committee, Chetan Sharma has revealed that Indian pacer rushed his comeback last year ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.

“Rohit and Rahul Dravid wanted him to play the second and third T20I against Australia. But when we asked Bumrah, he said that he is feeling fine and wants to play the first T20 international,” Mr. Sharma said.

He further claimed that Bumrah complained of pain after 1st T20I and was taken for scans, which revealed that letting him play in the World Cup would harm him more.
Notably, Bumrah is out of action since last year and missed major tournaments like Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022 due to injury. Bumrah was also named in the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, but a day before the series opener, BCCI announced that team management does not want to rush with Bumrah’s comeback, and hence, Bumrah was pulled out of the Sri Lanka series.
Chetan also claimed that Jasprit Bumrah was unable to bend as he had a major injury and hinted that the Indian speedster took injections in private along with other few players to get the fitness nod. “Jasprit Bumrah was unable to bend as he had a serious injury other than that there are one or two players who take injections in private and say that they are fit to play. I am talking about injections. If they take pain-killer then it will come under doping", revealed the BCCI Chief Selector.
