The secretary of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Jay Shah reportedly had a long meeting with Rahul Dravid, who is the head coach of the Men’s senior Indian cricket team. The meeting took place after the third T20I against the West Indies in Miami, where Jay Shah was staying. The meeting took place following a dismal performance by the Indian team in the series.
The discussion, which took place at the hotel the BCCI secretary was staying in, reportedly lasted close to two hours, according to Cricbuzz. Dravid took the time to drive to Miami to meet the BCCI secretary while the Indian squad was accommodated at the Marriott. Shah was in the US for a personal visit at the time of this meeting, and on August 13, he had been captured during the fifth and final T20I.
The team is about to start its biggest and arguably toughest challenge in the next few months, which includes the Asia Cup, and the ICC Cricket World Cup. The former will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17, whereas the latter will be held at home in India from October 5 to November 19.
The meeting was likely regarding the two upcoming tournaments. Even though it's obvious that these important events were planned in some way during this meeting, the specifics are still unknown. There is also the underlying concern of whether the coaching staff will expand. There is currently no information on anyone signing up for the Asia Cup training camp, which will begin on August 24 in Alur, Bengaluru.
The Indian team’s last assignment before the Asia Cup is the Ireland T20I series, which will get underway on August 18 and consist of three T20I games. The BCCI has sent a second-string team led by Jasprit Bumrah and Ruturaj Gaikwad to Ireland.
