England will take on Pakistan in a four-match T20I series, starting May 22. While the English players left the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) midway through the tournament to join their national side ahead of the series, they have been handed a massive blow with their skipper likely to miss a few matches.
According to reports published by inews.co.uk, Buttler could be unavailable for some part of the series to attend family matters as his wife, Louise Buttler is anticipating the arrival of their third child. The England wicketkeeper-batter left his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals after the sides’ defeat against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on May 12 (Sunday).
However, he proved to be crucial in RR’s first half of the IPL 2024, helping them register wins in two matches with unbeaten tons, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders.

While Buttler will continue to lead the side, it also sees the return of Jofra Archer. Moreover, England will be without their head coach in Matthew Mott. Mott will remain absent due to family reasons, assistant coach, Richard Dawson is set to take the charge of the practice sessions before the first T20I.
