Jose Mourinho, the manager of Fenerbahce, has been banned for one-match and fined £15,000 for making scathing comments on the Turkish Super Lig after his team’s 3-2 stoppage time win over Trabzonspor. In the aftermath of the high octane contest at the Papara Park, the 61-year-old questioned the match officials for supposed impartial conduct apart from stating that he is fighting against “the system.”
Following a late winning goal from Sofyan Amrabat against Trabzonspor in the 102nd minute, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho was involved in a hilarious moment when his attempted knee slide celebration went wrong. In the press conference, the former Chelsea and Manchester boss was unhappy about the opponents being awarded two penalties, while his team’s penalty shout was completely ignored.

The Portuguese, who joined Fenerbahce in the summer, had said the Turkish Super Lig “smells bad,” while questioning why any international fans would watch it. He also wasn’t a fan of Fenerbahce officials appointing him as the manager without telling him about what really goes on behind the scenes in the Turkish Super Lig.
In a statement released by the Turkish Football Federation, it was remarked that the conduct of Jose Mourinho after Fenerbahce’s win over Trabzonspor was “contrary to sportsmanship, sports ethics or the concept of fair play” apart from diminishing the value of football in Turkey. Furthermore, they also stated that the remarks from him “were aimed at casting a shadow over or discrediting the impartiality of the referees and other match officials.”
