The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced a 15-member squad for T20 World Cup 2022. There were not many surprises as obvious names were picked for the biennial tournament. Rohit Sharma was named the captain of the squad while KL Rahul will be playing as his deputy, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Deepak Hooda were the other three batters picked in the squad.

While there was so much talk about India’s wicketkeeping choices, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik both have been included in the 15-member squad. Hardik Pandya, R Ashwin, and Axar Patel are three all-rounders that have been added to the squad. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, who missed Asia Cup 2022 with injuries, are back in the mix.

Apart from these two, India have Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh as their bowling options. Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Deepak Chahar are the four standby players who will be travelling with the team to Australia.

As India were knocked out of T20 World Cup 2021 and the selection of players was criticized, people were eagerly waiting for the squad announcement. Now, as it’s out, Indian cricket team fans were quick to share their views on the 15-member squad. While a few looked happy, a few questioned Sanju Samson’s exclusion.
