The 2024 Paris Paralympic games are set to begin on August 28 and the Indian athletes will be going with high hopes of winning multiple medals in the upcoming tournament. Total 84 athletes from India will be seen competing in 12 out of 22 sports in the upcoming Paralympics. With the Paralympic games about to begin, the Indian athletes have received an special message from one of the best performers in the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics.
Indian Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to send his wishes to all the athletes who are competing in the 2024 Paralympics. Neeraj has been India’s best performer in the last two Olympic games. He won the gold medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with a throw of 87.58 meters. Neeraj also became the only player to win a silver for India in the 2024 Paris Olympics with a of 89.34 meters.
“My best wishes to all the incredible Indian athletes competing in the Paralympic Games which begin in Paris today. Keep inspiring us!” Neeraj Chopra wrote on X sending his wishes to the Indian para-athletes ahead of 2024 Paris Paralympics.
India send largest-ever contingent in 2024 Paralympics
India are sending their largest-ever contingent in the upcoming Paralympics in Paris. With 84 players to compete, India will compete in 12 sports and will be making their Paralympics debut in games like, para cycling, para judo and rowing. India’s campaign will begin on Thursday, August 29th, where Harvinder Singh, who won the bronze medal in the previous edition, will be seen in action in the men's recurve ranking round, while Sarita Devi will compete in women’s compound open category in para archery.
India had their best-ever Paralympics campaign in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic games, where they ended up winning 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver and six bronze. Now India are sending their largest contingent in the upcoming Paralympics and will be looking to have their greatest campaign in the Paralympic games.
