Kevin Durant’s highly talked about NY vs NY KD 16s have officially gone on sale on for the normal public. Earlier this year, in April, Kevin Durant made the famous Nike KD16 "NY vs. NY" sneaker debut in a playoff matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The only three NBA players to receive this highest award from the American sportswear giant are Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James. Kevin Durant, who has reportedly sold over $2 billion worth of merchandise, joined LeBron James and Michael Jordan as the most recent icons to secure lifetime contracts with Nike.

Durant totally balled out, scoring 31 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out five assists in his yet-to-be-released sneakers. He sent the opponent home while the entire world was watching and got the crowd going.  The forward announced the arrival of the brand-new sneakers on his social media handle on Thursday night. “KD16 out now!!,”Durant wrote on Twitter.

When Durant first began working with Nike, he was a highly anticipated talent entering the league. KD has introduced 16 trademark shoes since joining Nike. The Phoenix Suns star agrees with Sorkin's estimation that he has contributed to Nike's $2 billion in sales over the past 15 years.

The 34-year-old American forward has averaged 29.1 points per game after being dealt from Brooklyn to Phoenix earlier this season. He also assisted the Suns in making it to the conference semi-finals of the NBA.
