West Indies have made a late change to their XI for the second Test against England in Trent Bridge. The Windies lost the first Test with an innings and 114 runs as England fast bowler Gus Atkinson emerged as the Player of the match for his brilliant spells across both innings at Lord's in London. The Surrey bowler picked 12 wickets across both innings and gave fast-bowling legend James Anderson a grand farewell.
A CWI spokesperson revealed that the left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie will be absent from the playing XI as he is unwell. The CWI spokesperson was quoted saying, "Gudakesh Motie has been replaced in the originally announced team by Kevin Sinclair. Motie woke up feeling unwell and is unable to take his place in the side."
Sinclair comes in as Motie has the flu: Kraigg Brathwaite
Then at the toss, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite reconfirmed Moite's absence and revealed that the 29-year-old is dealing with flu. Brathwaite won the toss and elected the bowl first. Brathwaite said, " We'll have a bowl first, looks like a good cricket pitch, want to utilize what we get today.
"We could be a lot more disciplined with the ball. Sinclair comes in as Motie has the flu. We have to score at least 300 runs in the first innings. (On the Gabba win) Can take a lot of confidence, coming off a loss and winning at Gabba. We have to be disciplined and we can do great things," he continued.
