The Babar Azam-led started strong in the much-hyped match between India and Pakistan at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. After being invited to bat first, the Pakistan openers started by smashing Mohammed Siraj for boundaries in the latter’s first over. However, it was Siraj who gave India the first breakthrough.

While Siraj dismissed Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed, courtesy a brilliant catch by wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul. The skipper however steadied the inning with a brilliant partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Rizwan, both were dismissed in a gap of 26 deliveries.
On the final delivery of the 34th over, Bumrah’s slow off-cutter left the wicketkeeper batter in dismay, thus putting the Men in Green on the backfoot. Just at this moment, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan took to X to take a dig at the neighbouring nation. “Padosiyo mein Khamoshi Ka Mahool hai,” Pathan tweeted.
Coming back into the game, Pakistan were reduced to 168/6 at the end of 34 overs with Rizwan missing a half-century by a run.
