In a big move, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have officially been pushed back to April 8. The announcement came on Friday, March 28 during the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Notably, the decision follows after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was pushing to host the match in Kolkata. Originally, the match was scheduled to be played on April 6, which coincides with the occasion of Ram Navami. There were concerns looming over the scheduling of the match due to security concerns due to the celebrations, which will see over 20,000 rallies take place in West Bengal.

KKR vs LSG IPL 2025 match rescheduled to April 8

“The decision follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities,” the statement mentioned. However, this shift in the match implies that April 8 will now hold two matches as the KKR versus LSG clash is set to be held at 3:30 pm IST at the Eden Gardens.

As a result, April 6 will now host a single-header with Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Gujarat Titans at 7:30 pm whereas April 8 will be a double-header weekday with Punjab Kings (PBKS) hosting Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in New Chandigard in the evening as per the original schedule.
