During IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli got into a face-off against some of the Lucknow Super Giants members. The incident was one of the most talked-about moments of the entire season, and fans are still curious about what those involved made of the whole scenario. After the match, Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq, West Indies player Kyle Mayers walked up and spoke to Kohli before being taken away by Gambhir.

Recently the player was asked about his conversation with Virat Kohli on the pitch and he expressed that there were no hard feelings and that it was a part of the game that he enjoyed. He expressed how necessary aggressiveness could be, stating that it might be a way to find opportunities within a game. 


He said, “It's great, sometimes you need to get at your opposition, to create any chance to get out of the game. Being aggressive is always good, it shows courage and the willingness to get your team over the line.”


Throughout the entire match, Kohli was an animated figure. The former Indian captain had faced off against Naveen-ul-Haq which eventually spilt over on social media. After the game, Gambhir had an animated spat with Kohli, who also had a long discussion with LSG captain KL Rahul. 


Kohli and Gambhir faced heavy fines after verbal spat


Both Kohli and Gautam Gambhir saw fines for their involvement in the scuffle. Gambhir had to forfeit his match fee as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL said in a statement, “Lucknow Super Giants' Mentor Gautam Gambhir has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct … Gambhir admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.”

“Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Kohli admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.”
