New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have announced their 13-member squad for the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan and the highlight of the side is the induction of the left-arm pacer Muhammad Abbas and top-order batter Nick Kelly. The Black Caps have looked amazing under Michael Bracewell’s captaincy in the five-match T20 International (T20I) series against the Men in Green as the home side has taken an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the series. Before going into the ODI competition, both sides will be clashing in the final T20I to be played in Wellington on March 26. Pakistan will play for pride and strive to end the tournament on a positive note.
With Mitchell Santner serving Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Tom Latham will be handling the captaincy mantle for the hosts. Speedster Abbas and top-order batter Kelly, who play for Wellington Firebirds in first-class cricket, will endeavour to be at their best against the Green Shirts and grab the opportunity. Abbas, the 21-year-old quick, was born in Lahore and he might be seen playing against Pakistan, who are known for producing brilliant fast bowlers.
New Zealand to play with Kyle Jamieson and Matt Henry
New Zealand will be playing the ODI series without their mainstay pacers Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson. Henry is undergoing rehabilitation from a right-shoulder injury, which he picked up during the Champions Trophy 2025 while Jamieson has been allowed to be rested. The Kiwis will square off against Pakistan in Napier on March 29.
New Zealand line-up: Tom Latham (c), Daryl Mitchell, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Muhammad Abbas, Adi Ashok, Jacob Duffy, Mitchell Hay (wicketkeeper), Nick Kelly, Will O'Rourke, Nathan Smith, Will Young, and Ben Sears.
