India badminton star, Lakshya Sen took to X to request for a help post failing to get visa for Japan in time ahead of the Kumanoto Masters Japan 2023. The BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament is set to take place from 14-19 November in the city of Kumamoto in Japan.

The World 17-ranked shuttler took to X, urging the Embassy of Japan in India and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to look into the matter on priority as he is said to leave for Japan on Saturday, 11 November 2023. “I have to travel to Japan & China Open on Sat. Me and my team applied for Japan visa on 30/10/23. We still haven’t got the visa. I have to apply for a China visa as well”, he wrote.

Urging all relevant authorities to look into the matter, the 22-year-old further added, “Urgent request for visa for myself, my coach and physio. Please help @ianuragthakur Sir @PMOIndia @meaindia1.”

The Commonwealth Games champion, Sen crashed out of the French Open in Rennes after losing to 44 th  ranked Arnaud Merkle 15-21, 18-21 in a battle of 54 minutes. Sen, who won the Canada Open BWF Super 500 event earlier this year, was left struggling in the match, eventually falling against the 44 th seeded.

Notably, Sen also gave the much-deserved lead in the men’s team final against China at the Asian Games 2023, held in Hangzhou in China in - September October. He beat Chinese World No. 6 Shi Yu Qi to give India a lead, eventually settling for a historic feat at the quadrennial games.
