Rohit Sharma-led Team India extended their record against Bangladesh after they bundled out the visitors at the score of 234 early on Day 4 to register a comprehensive 280 runs win and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. With the game looking to go India’s way all across four days, Virat Kohli was seen sledging Shakib Al Hasan on the second day of the Test match in Chennai. The incident took place in the final session of the play with Kohli at the crease as India added runs on the board to extend their lead.

The 35-year-old, who was in the middle during India’s second innings, had to endure a plethora of yorkers from Hasan Mahmud, which led to him funnily addressing Shakib Al Hasan in the field about how the pacer is trying to be Lasith Malinga, leaving the former Bangladesh captain in splits. “Malinga bana hua hai, yorker pe yorker de raha ((He is behaving like Lasith Malinga. Bowling yorkers after yorkers,” Kohli was caught saying on the stump mic.

After Virat Kohli’s video of “Malina bana hua hai” went viral, it also reached the attention of the former Sri Lanka cricketer and legend, Lasith Malinga. It is to be noted that Malinga was known for bowling unplayable yorkers with raw pace. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the legend himself replied writing, “Niyamai malli🤣🫶” which translates to “Great, brother”.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, who returned to Test cricket after last featuring in the Test series against South Africa, had a forgettable outing in the middle. In the two innings, Kohli registered scores of six and 17. Moreover, he has been having a dismal outing off late across all formats as in 15 matches and 17 innings this year, he has scored 319 runs at a sub-par average of 18.76.

Moreover, Kohli has scored only one half-century this year with his best score of 76 coming against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The 35-year-old will aim to redeem himself as India takes on Bangladesh in second Test, starting September 27 at the Green Park in Kanpur.
