India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer praised youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal after the latter hit his second consecutive double-century. Jaiswal’s second 200 came in the third of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The 22-year-old batter used 231 deliveries to reach the milestone. Not only this, but he became the first player in the 147-year-long history to hit 20 sixes in a Test series. 

The young opener scored his third Test century on the third day of the Test and was shortly retired hurt on 104. Jaiswal came to bat after India lost Shubman Gill’s wicket on 91 runs earlier on the fourth day. With his double century, the emerging star became the third Indian batter and eleventh overall to register double hundreds in successive Tests following Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli. Apart from that, the Mumbai native has converted each of his first three Test centuries to 150+ scores. 

He remained not out at 214 as India declared innings with the lead of 556 runs at the loss of four wickets. 


Shreyas Iyer hails Jaiswal as ‘legend in making’ following second double hundred

India’s reliable middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer, praised Jaiswal for his spectacular batting prowess. Iyer, who is currently sitting outside of the squad due to back injury posted a picture of Jaiswal on Instagram story and wrote, “Legend in the making”. Wishes started to pour in for the Rajasthan Royals batter, and several other cricketers wished him for his knock.

Apart from him, former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan also lauded Jaiswal and tweeted, “During the IPL, I saw the spark in #YashasviJaiswal, predicting his bright future with Team India. And here he is, announcing his arrival in grand style with two double hundreds in the series An incredible player. Keep shining.”
